Including Dedicated Awards for BIPOC Students
The Rangers Reach – Ivan Tennant Memorial Scholarship is an award available to students from the Region of Waterloo entering first-year undergraduate studies in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
In 2005, the name of the award was changed to honour long time local educator Ivan Tennant. The scholarship funds are administered through Rangers Reach.

The response from the community and previous recipients has been very positive and the scholarship program has become a large part of community.
Awards are not based solely on academic performance but also considers the student’s involvement within our community. Scholarships are paid in the second semester directly to the recipient’s post-secondary institution. Since 2004, over $360,000 in scholarships in honour of Ivan Tennant. (Previously administered by the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club)
Applications for the 2023 Rangers Reach – Ivan Tennant Memorial Scholarship are now closed. Please check back in June 2024 for our next cycle.

As part of our scholarship program, we are committed to awarding up to three scholarships to BIPOC community members from the Region of Waterloo to be used at a Canadian post-secondary institution of their choosing.
Last season scholarships in the amount of $10,000 were awarded to 8 graduates of Waterloo Region high schools.
